B25 MItchell "Russells Raiders"      [link] crash landed in France after a fire in one of the engines after take off

More bad news for the warbird community: a B-25 Mitchell crash-landed on May 31st, 2011, in France near Melun-Villaroche, south-east of Paris. It appears the B-25 is F-AZZU, s/n 44-58811, which is known as "Russell's Raiders" and is well known in France due to its regular appearances at the La Ferté airshow
Shortly after takeoff, fire erupted in the right engine. The propeller for that engine had been replaced just before the flight. The crew cut off the fuel feed to the right engine and kept it running to empty the remaining fuel in the pipes, while searching for a suitable crash-landing field. A return to Melun airport was considered too risky. During the descent, the aircraft cut some electrical cables and landed wheels-up in a field in Moissy-Cramayel.

The pilot and copilot were able to exit the aircraft on their own and appear to be unharmed. Emergency services were quickly on the scene to stop the ensuing fire. The extent of the damage to the aircraft is unknown.

On a positive note things are looking set for the 2012 Photographer of the Year competition. Stuart Brown has made an early offer of his print "Al Waki" (RAF Regiment) as part of the first prize pot.

Discussions are taking place with Singapore Tourist Board with the possibility of coming up with a package prize to attend the Singapore Airshow in 2013 - I am seeking flights and accommodation in addition to entry to the show itself.

Please do support me in my efforts, by joining the Airscene forums [link] and becoming an active member. The forums have a chat facility so you can chat with other Airscene members who are online and visiting the forums (chat has now been removed from the Airscene toolbar).

Airshow Reviews

There are currently 2 airshows in June and around 5 in July (later dates not posted yet) whereby I am able to offer Media Authorisation Documents to anyone who may be interested in attending a providing a review for Airscene.

I am also interested in speaking to overseas (non UK) members who may wish to provide a review of a non-UK airshow.

Moderators and Airshow media passes available

Hi guys, I have been asked by another site which I am on if there are any people who would be interested in being mods etc. They are currently organising media passes for airshow reviews this year and are short of applicants for that too, they also run an annual competition for all members to participate in and usually have some good prizes from ACOM and special forces prints etc. so they are looking to increase membership and grow the site.

Okay had quite a few entries to go through and there were some top notch submissions, in fact it was so difficult that I had to narrow it down to 10 deviants, which was eventually wittled down to 6, so what I will do is feature 5 of those deviants as well as the deviant who gets a 3 month  sub for their winning shot(s). Now what I should have said in the forum was to ask you all to look at my gallery to get an idea of the kind of shots I like but i dont know if your allowed to do that

Dont know if I`ll ever do this again as it was so difficult to choose the winning shots.

Well everyone on DA or otherwise has come across someone in their daily routine that has been an inspiration to them, I found that person here on DA and its Jean Sebastien Monzani [link] , I noticed something different about his photoshoots right away and was instantly addicted to his style and the subsequent photostories that ensued, if his work was a monthly publication like Digital Photo and the likes then I would have been an instant subscriber, however we are lucky enough to have his work shared with one and all here on DA.

still despite the darkness the model always has the right amount of lighting

could not have been easy but the end result justifies the means.
